FULL MOON IN ARIES: Exploring Shadows with Loving Awareness

Full Moon Blessings to all!

The annual Full Moon in Aries opposite the Sun in Libra ( and Full Moon in Libra opposite Sun in Aries which happens in March/April) always highlights the “me vs we” dynamics within our relationships with others. This axis brings our collective attention to the energies of first-sign-of- the- Zodiac- wheel, Fire sign Aries which is naturally inclined towards Me or the needs of Self while it’s opposite, 7th sign of the Zodiac, Air sign Libra is naturally geared to communicating and towards cooperation in this exchange, with an innate ability to weigh up  another’s point of view against ones own to maintain some equilibrium.

This particular Full Moon, planetary ruler of Aries, Mars is in Scorpio. Here Mars operates from an emotionally powered intensity and core belief, for better or for worse. With Mercury heading into this sign today there is a going to be an intense square off with Scorpio’s modern ruler Pluto, which can increase the capacity for psychological awareness, delving into power maneuvers or behind the scenes control which need to be aired, explored or investigated. Courage may be required in this unravelling process as we may be collectively facing some uncomfortable truths about ourselves or the agendas of others.

The Sun in Libra on the other hand has planetary ruler Venus currently in Virgo, who naturally casts a critical eye over what is not right, out of balance or unfair. Fortunately, Venus is in a 60 degree sextile angle to Jupiter in Cancer which brings pontentials for nurturing emotional growth and the desire to set things right.

Looking at the other key players in the astrological picture there’s a need for personal reflection on self-motivation while focusing on the unconscious motives or behaviors of others. Self-acceptance or kindness in this process of exploring shadow expressions within ourselves and others are beneficial qualities to foster right now. This Full Moon is great time for intentional release! The dark parts we deem as separate to ourselves will be integrated into the light of consciousness if we’re willing to speak or write them out for the betterment  of ALL- by shining a light with loving awareness, shadows cannot hide.

Looking back may be a theme of this Full Moon, perhaps to former relationship dynamics we’ve experienced or where we’ve not felt valued or asserted our needs before others. This may even be a story played out within family dynamics going back through time in our ancestral lines.
The questions I asked a year ago at the Full Moon in Aries are still relevant this year so here they are again to reflect on:

- Do I acknowledge my presence in this world as unique and valuable?

-Where am I feeling the need to assert myself, and how can I do so in a way that is mutually empowering?

-What old emotional patterns or family dynamics am I aware of that I do not wish to carry further?

-How can I balance my personal need for autonomy with the diverse needs of others so we can all thrive and grow?
