As we head into September we enter the New Moon phase on 2nd/3rdSeptember depending where you are on the planet, a perfect time to focus on setting intentions for the coming month. This month also features a Partial Lunar eclipse followed closely by the Equinox so the seasons are shifting!

Every year, the Virgo New Moon encourages us to dive into those small, often overlooked aspects of life that, when fine-tuned, help us create a more organized and functional reality. It's not just about personal improvement; it's also about considering the well-being of those we care for, be it partners, children, pets, employees or coworkers. In Virgo season attention is best applied toward practical solutions, refining processes, incorporating new systems or forming healthy habits, especially ones that facilitate greater mind-body-spirit connection. Taking a holistic approach can be very helpful.

Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is the stage of the zodiac story where we get to cultivate our power of discernment- to sort out or determine what serves going forward. In Northern hemisphere cultures this correlates with harvest and back to more routine life while Spring arrives in the Southern hemisphere- both seasons require adjustment, gathering inwards or clearing the deck. Unlike its fellow Mercury-ruled sign Gemini, which is outwardly curious, and social, Virgo tends to be "Mercurial" in a more introspective and discriminating way- teaching us to observe what needs enhancing or where problems lie.

The stand out aspect of this New Moon is that the Sun and Moon are opposite Saturn in Pisces. This a perhaps a pulling on the brake kind of energy, asking us to be responsible with how, who or where we invest energy, or working within limits or boundaries. There could potentially be a feeling of overwhelming details or tasks for some-or procrastination in prioritising them-because Saturn doesn't advise short cuts. There could be a general energy lag

On the other hand the messenger planet, Mercury, now direct but still in its shadow phase, is moving through the end of Leo. Adding depth to this New Moon, there are a number of astrological conversations going on with him. There's a harmonious contact with Chiron the wounded healer archetype, often associated with the holistic gifts of Virgo. And there's sideline support from expansive Jupiter in Gemini as well. Combined, these influences could provide opportunities to experiment, be playful, reboot creative juices or engage with others in ways which boost authentic expression and self confidence

Mercury squares Uranus for the third and final time since July, on the 7th September, within days of Uranus  beginning it's retrograde phase. This combo has, and potentially will be, bringing more unexpected events, revelations or disruption but as it's the last pass it could also bring forth personal insights or breakthroughs. This aspect challenges us to think outside the box while grounding those ideas in practical reality- something which might be easier when Mercury moves into methodical Virgo

Another news feature of this New Moon is Pluto dipping back into Capricorn for it's final 2 month stay in this sign- after which it won't be in Capricorn for another 248 years. This along with Uranus stationing retrograde adds a transformative edge to the start of this month-  change ongoing a major theme.

In the days following this New Moon, it's important to listen to our bodies and minds. If you’re feeling a sense of low energy or mental fog, it’s a sign to slow down and preserve energy rather than push forward. This New Moon is preparing us for the upcoming eclipse season, emphasizing the importance of not skipping the details. By focusing on what can be fixed or improved incrementally, going at a comfortable pace, pausing to listen, being kind to ourselves  and acknowledging what we've done well, we can step by step navigate challenges ahead.

Three Questions to Reflect On:
  1. What aspects of your life need to be prioritised? Can anything be simplified to create more clarity?
  2. How can you better align your daily routines with your overall well-being and mind-body-spirit connection?
  3. Are you listening to your body’s signals, and what might it be asking for right now? Take time to tune in and respond to its needs
