Overarching themes at the Aquarius New moon

Happy Aquarius New moon to all out there on the planet we share! What with larger cycles like Pluto's passage into Aquarius and the worldwide celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Wood Dragon today, this New Moon is an extra potent time to set intentions for the coming month and year especially around anything that you wish to energise, change or transform.

The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto all together in the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius indicates this is a time to stretch the mind to future possibilities that may seem far fetched now given wars, social, political or economic conditions or the chaos of outer world events. But with Mercury having crossed Pluto into this sign in the last week and Mars soon to also cross Pluto followed by Venus later this month, Aquarian themes are being majorly activated.

It's worth noting that the conjunction of Mars with Pluto on 13th February is at worst, extreme volatility and impulsive behavior, potentially leading to conflicts. This is a key day to be super conscious of remaining calm in spite of external realities. At best this combination can be utilised for harnessing specific energy and desire, and strategic timing. But timing the release of this potent energy will require forethought and patience. In fact this is a perfect opportunity to be highly intentional- reinforcing how important this New Moon is for seeding future timelines!

In the planetary picture right now, Aquarius' modern ruler Uranus, is in a dynamic square to the Sun and Moon suggesting that there’s greater potential for sudden, unexpected or unforeseen events playing out for us individually and on the world stage. Individually this will be impacting the areas of your birth chart where you have Taurus and Aquarius.

So what are Aquarius themes? Aquarius as a sign rules the group, community, networks, societies and organisations, the people on the ground and the masses. Historically, when Uranus was discovered in 1781, there had been an industrial revolution throughout that century that brought in major advancements in production, machinery, transport, work opportunities and education. On the flip side, urbanization and factories brought slave labour, unsanitary conditions and food shortages.

After Uranus’ discovery there were the French and American revolutions with democratic and radical reform challenging the status quo. At the same time, Pluto, which has an orbit of 248 years, was last in Aquarius between 1777-1798! So themes now may be humanitarian, gender or social equality, progressive, future oriented inventions and experimentation and greater freedom or independence. Pluto is about power however so we will be exploring the shadow aspects of Aquarius over the next 21 years . As with every sign there is shadow and light in the vast spectrum of human experience and Aquarius can be a paradox- free thinking and liberal minded yet opinionated or stuck in convictions that are rigid( Fixed Air).

It takes courage to fight for freedom and speak on behalf of others but advocating for one side only can also trap us in a web of never ending duality, of right vs wrong. The Aquarian Pluto realm might well reveal to us where we give our power away to causes or agendas, or highlight addiction to technology, mass media controls or anything which keeps us separate to a universal sense of humanity. The shadow side of technological advancement is being so detached or desensitized that a non-coherent state of being becomes normal.

Uranus in Taurus has been bringing in major change with regards to agriculture, food production, ecological awareness, banking and resource. On a an expanded level though, Fixed Earth sign Taurus is the gift of our physical presence on this amazing planet. HOW and WHAT we embody is powerful in the present.
