Full Moon Blessings to all out there on the planet! Every year the annual Full Moon in Mutable Earth sign Virgo opens a window to check in with ourselves, our obligations, and our environments to best determine what’s not working, what’s beneficial and what needs to go. In essence Virgo embodies intentional improvement: taking inventory of all the separate parts, being selective about what can utilised, to serve the functioning whole. In the human body this correlates with the digestive tract and how we assimilate nutrients and get rid of waste, so at this stage of the Zodiac story healthy discrimination is necessary; if you’re refining a method or honing a skill,"room for improvement" evaluation is Virgo's domain.

Ruled by Mercury, Virgo is a left brain oriented sign given to analysis, logistics and practical problem solving. But as a Yin Mutable sign it benefits from balancing mental energy with right brain activities using the hands- playing an instrument, gardening, cooking or creative arts and crafts. The shadow side of this sign when out of balance can emerge as fear based thought processes- looping worry, judgement or criticism, or persistent zooming in on what’s wrong rather than what's right.

As the Virgo Moon opposes the Sun in Pisces at this Full Moon, the Virgo/Pisces polarity, often referred to as the health axis in Astrology, brings to the fore mental, psychological and physical well being. This focus affects everyone, playing out in the areas of the birth chart where these signs sit.

While Virgo is about who or what we devote our attention, care and focus to in day to day life, Pisces teaches us to zoom out and transcend the mundane or ordinary facets of existence. When we let go of the minutiae, open up to imagination, inspiration, intuition or universal awareness, another part of us can flourish. Shifting into these different brain waves, a greater heart and brain coherence can kick in, which a lot of scientific research is indicating accelerates physical healing and increases well being.

For many, what keeps us sane and feeling on track, is work, exercise, having routines or caring for loved ones or pets. But to function optimally we need to be addressing the health of the whole system- mind, body and spirit.

So the synthesis of this duo comes through infusing practical elements of daily life with meaningful and fulfilling energy to create a bridge between physical and spiritual reality. Balance might involve the power of discerning boundaries and maintaining a healthy sense of separateness (Virgo), as well as a commitment towards personal healing, forgiveness or empathy....being kind to ourselves and others, we gradually increase our capacity to experience unity and compassion (Pisces).

With the Sun and Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in close proximity at this Full Moon, responsibility for one’s personal energy field and internal narrative are truly essential. Choosing what to focus on is key to not absorbing others' suffering or getting bombarded and overwhelmed by the turbulence of outer world events or situations beyond our control. Peace is an individual state of being with enormous impact on the unified field but to maintain this inner state requires diligence and inner work!

With Venus and Mars in Aquarius traveling together right now after both of them crossing the 0 degree Aquarius Pluto point within days of each other, this month suggests a new wave of independent thinking, fluidity or freedom of movement in the way we express Masculine/Feminine energies...however with a square to Jupiter there can be some big expectations, overstating one's opinion or drama when relating to others about feelings and desires. RE this Pisces and Aquarius emphasis, more coming in another post...

There is however a supportive connection between Jupiter and Saturn at this Full Moon lending  helpful support for a healthy perspective or maintaining an inner core of stability.

Questions you might wish to ask yourself are:

Where can I implement practical steps now to align more closely with my ideals or vision?
What can I release, recycle, de clutter or simplify in my environment or life?
How can I introduce more imaginative, dreaming or inspiration downtime into my daily life?
Am I balancing my need for productivity with relaxation or decompression?

Simple suggestions  which everyone can do- getting out into nature, going for a walk, connecting feet to the earth if possible, and if not practicing mindful deep breathing or pranayama techniques.
Or do something kind for yourself (or someone else) today!
